Director Liu Yongfu attended the Forum on Eco-Civilization and Open Poverty Alleviation and delivered a keynote speech on June 27th in Guizhou Province. Liu stressed that integrating eco-civilization and poverty alleviation is the fundamental approach to eliminating absolute poverty as well as achieving sustainable development and common prosperity. China is ready to collaborate with the international community to promote the dynamic integration of eco-civilization and open poverty alleviation in order to achieve sustainable development.

Local Poverty Alleviation News:
Per capita net income of rural residents in impoverished areas in Gansu Province is estimated to reach approximate 10,000 yuanby 2020. Gansu Province formulated the “Implementation Plan on Cultivating and Supporting Targeted Poverty Alleviation Industry to Enrich the People”. It is estimated that by the end of 2017, all of the archived impoverished villages in Guizhou Province will benefit from industries with distinguished features and comparative advantages. It is also estimated that by the end of 2020, a diversified people-enriching industry system consistent with the standard of developing modern agriculture will be built. All these will help achieve the goal of “every county specializing in a particular industry” and “every village adept at a particular product.”

Qinghai Province allocated another 23 mobile libraries to impoverished counties and autonomous prefectures. In 2014, Qinghai Province first allocated mobile libraries to 19 county-level public libraries. Recently, the provincial government allocated another 23 to county-level or autonomous-prefecture-level public libraries in contiguous destitute areas such as Yushu Autonomous Prefecture, Zaduo County and Qumalai County to make it more convenient for people to borrow and read books.

Recently, Anhui Province implemented three 2015 college enrollment programs targeted at students from impoverished rural areas. These programs include the National Level Targeted Program, the Local Level Targeted Program and the College Level Targeted Program. According to reports, the three targeted programs aim to further promote educational equity and the vertical mobility of students from rural and impoverished areas.

Zhangxian County of Gansu Province made concerted efforts to promote targeted poverty alleviation. With accelerating poverty alleviation as its core mission, Zhangxian County of Gansu Province allocated poverty alleviation resources with precision, explored critical poverty alleviation mechanism with proactive efforts, and built a total of 74.6 km cement roads leading to villages all over the county in 2015. By the end of this year, the drinking water safety problem concerning 71,700 rural residents will be solved. Dilapidated houses of 1,130 households in impoverished villages will be renovated within this year, so as to ensure that people in Zhangxian County all live in safety.

Public Poverty Alleviation and Charity News:
DadiPublic Foundation of Guizhou Province donated 20 million yuanto families with financial difficulties. The Foundation also planned to continue to donate no less than 100 million yuanin the next five years. In recent years, Dadi Public Foundation launched a series of charity activities such as “Caring for Teachers in Impoverished Areas”, “Fulfilling Dreams of People in Remote Mountains” and “Happy Home for Stay-at-home Children”, all of which all well received and praised by the whole society.
