Before the end of the 13^th Five-Year Plan, Sichuan Province will invest 120 billion yuan in the planning and construction of power grid in poverty-stricken areas. The funds will be used to accelerate the progress of the project, to fix vulnerable spots of the power grid, and to meet the increasing demand for power. The investment will support and facilitate the development of four major impoverished areas, namely Daliang Mountain and Xiaoliang Mountain Areas inhabited by the Yi people in Sichuan, plateau area inhabited by the Tibetan people, Wumeng Mountain Area in the south of Sichuan, and Qinba Mountain Area in the northeast of Sichuan.

Haimen city invested a total of 15.39 million yuan in poverty alleviation, and achieved a poverty relief rate of 86.5%. On August 6^th, Haimen city held a conference to exchange ideas and further promote poverty alleviation. It was reported in the conference that, following the standard of 5,000 yuan per capita annual income, the city continued to increase its investment in poverty alleviation, and poverty alleviation funds amounted to 15.39 million yuan. The funds were used on low-income communities according to their different causes for poverty and development needs. By the end of this June, the city had helped lift 16,189 households and 27,678 registered poor people out of poverty, realizing a poverty relief rate of 86.5%.

China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation initiated a new era of public welfare. In 2015, China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and Walmart co-hosted a public welfare campaign for the nutrition of students in poverty-stricken areas. In 2008, the Foundation launched the “Nutrition Meals with Love” project. Over the past seven years, 75 million people have contributed to the project. With the support of dozens of enterprises and a total investment of 130 million yuan, the project generated satisfactory results: 31 million nutrition meals were given to 160,000 pupils from low income families; 601 school were equipped with better kitchen facilities, and nearly 200,000 students benefited from the project.
