Chongqing: Poverty alleviation through tourism solved the problem of “starving by the side of golden mountains”. In 2017, Chongqing lifted five impoverished counties at national level out of poverty. However, the destitute areas here remain the biggest weakness in Chongqing’s battle against poverty. Henan Province has held the experience exchanging meeting of poverty alleviation through finance to make sure 33 impoverished counties could get rid of poverty this year. By the end of 2017, the balance of loans (including loans to people who has been lifted out of poverty) for targeted poverty alleviation of financial institutions in the province was 116.23 billion yuan, an increase of 71% year-on-year, up 48.26 billion yuan from the beginning of the year. In 2017, a total of 88.44 billion yuan has been lent, an increase of 39.27 billion yuan over the same period of the previous year. Sichuan Province plans to implement 75 projects of poverty alleviation through land rearrangement. These projects will mainly be implemented in 38 impoverished counties, including four exceedingly destitute counties and 19 ones listed in the 30 counties scheduled to get rid of poverty in 2018. The construction area of these projects amounts to 865,100 mu.
